To convert a PDF to Word online, choose your PDF above and select Convert to Word. The default Keep layout, editable method gives you a .docx that looks like the PDF — tables, lines, colours and logos in place — with the text in editable boxes at the same positions, fonts and colours.
Prefer plain paragraphs you can rewrite freely? Choose Reflow text. For an exact picture of each page (for example scans), choose Keep layout (image). Conversion happens in your browser, so the PDF is not uploaded.
How to use the PDF to Word

1
Choose your PDF
Tap “Choose PDF file” or drag it onto the upload area. Files up to 25 MB are supported.

Keep layout, editable (recommended) matches the PDF and keeps text editable. Reflow text gives plain paragraphs. Keep layout (image) places each page as a picture.
-
3
Enter the password if the PDF is protected
Only needed for PDFs that ask for a password when opened.
-
4
Convert and download
Select “Convert to Word”, then download the .docx file.
How it works
In Keep layout, editable mode each page is drawn twice in your browser: once in full and once without its text. The text-free drawing — lines, table borders, shading, logos and photos — becomes the page background in Word, and every piece of text is placed on top in a text box at its original position, with the closest Word font, the same size, weight and colour, and letter spacing adjusted to fill the same width. Text the PDF stores unreliably (some Hindi fonts, scanned pages) is left as part of the background picture.
Reflow text groups the text into paragraphs and headings instead, and Keep layout (image) places each page as one picture.

Limitations
- In Keep layout, editable mode, lines and table borders are part of the page background: you can change the text, but not resize the table itself. Choose Reflow text if you need to restructure the content.
- Fonts are matched to the closest standard Word font, so unusual typefaces look slightly different.
- Scanned PDFs contain pictures of text, not text. Keep-layout mode preserves their look, but the text is not editable (no OCR).
- Very large PDFs (over 300 pages) are not supported in the browser.
Troubleshooting
- “No selectable text was found”
- The PDF is a scan or photo. Use Keep layout, editable or Keep layout (image); the pages are kept as pictures.
- The Word file has odd line breaks
- That happens in Reflow text mode when a PDF positions every line separately. Use Keep layout, editable, or remove the extra breaks in Word with Find & Replace.
- It asks for a password
- Enter the password used to open the PDF. If you don’t know it, the file can’t be converted.
Frequently asked questions
Is this PDF to Word converter free?
Yes. In-browser conversion is free with no limit. High-fidelity server conversion includes a free daily allowance, then uses 1 credit per file.
Will my formatting be preserved?
Yes, with the default Keep layout, editable method: tables, colours, lines and pictures stay where they were, and the text keeps its position, size, weight and colour. Fonts are matched to the closest standard Word font.
Can I convert a scanned PDF to editable Word?
No: scans contain pictures of text and this tool does not perform OCR. Both layout methods place scanned pages in Word as pictures that look exactly like the original.
Is my PDF uploaded?
Not in the standard mode — it’s processed in your browser. High-fidelity mode uploads the file over HTTPS; it’s deleted automatically within an hour.
