Marriage Biodata Format: What to Include and How to Download It as a PDF
In this article
A marriage biodata is usually the first thing two families exchange, so its format matters almost as much as its content. A good format is easy to scan in thirty seconds, fits on one or two pages, and prints cleanly. This guide explains the standard biodata format used in India, what goes in each section, and how to download yours as a PDF with the free marriage biodata maker.
The standard marriage biodata format
Most biodata in India follow the same order, because that is the order families read them in:
- Heading and photo — a short title such as “Biodata” or “॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥”, the full name, and a recent photo.
- Personal details — date and time of birth, age, height, complexion, blood group.
- Religious or community details — religion, caste or community, sub-caste, gotra, and whether the person is manglik, where these matter to the families involved.
- Education and career — highest qualification, occupation, employer and, if you choose, annual income.
- Family details — father’s and mother’s names and occupations, siblings, and family type (joint or nuclear).
- Contact details — the contact person, city and state, phone number and email.
- About and expectations — two or three lines about the person and what they are looking for in a partner.
Every section is optional except the name. Leave out anything you are not comfortable sharing; a shorter biodata that is accurate is better than a long one padded with filler.
Which details to include (and which to skip)
Worth including
- Height in feet and inches (for example 5′ 6″) — it is the format most families expect.
- Exact qualifications — “B.Tech (Computer Science), 2021” says more than “Graduate”.
- A clear occupation line — job title and employer or the nature of the business.
- Time and place of birth, if the families will match horoscopes.
Usually better left out
- Full home address — a city and state is enough at the first stage.
- Personal ID numbers of any kind (Aadhaar, PAN, passport).
- Salary slips or exact bank details.
- Long paragraphs — the “About me” section works best at 40–60 words.
Free templates and premium designs
The biodata maker currently has 11 designs. Two are free: Classic Lotus, with a traditional Hindu look, and Crescent Elegance, designed for Muslim families. Nine premium designs cover regional and modern styles, including Royal Rajputana, South Indian Temple, Punjabi Vibes, Bengali Blossom, Mughal Splendour, Islamic Geometric, Rose Gold Modern, Minimal Elegance and Vedic Mandala.
All designs use the same details, so you can fill the form once and preview it in every design before you decide. You can browse them on the biodata templates page.
How to download your biodata as a PDF
- Open the biodata form and fill in the sections you want. The preview on the right updates as you type.
- Add a photo if you like. You can crop it in the browser before saving.
- Use Add a field for anything the form doesn’t have, such as Rashi, Nakshatra or a second phone number.
- Select Save & choose design. You need a free account to save; your details are stored privately and only you can see them.
- Pick a design and download. The PDF is generated in your browser and saved straight to your device.
Downloading a free design uses 1 credit, and new accounts start with 10 credits. Premium designs are a one-time payment of ₹49 per download, and you can download that PDF again as many times as you need for 24 hours.
Hindi, English or both
You can write any field in Hindi, English or a mix of the two. The PDF keeps Devanagari text exactly as you typed it, including conjuncts such as क्ष and श्र. Many families write names and the heading in Hindi and keep education and occupation in English; that works well in every design.
Tips for a biodata that gets read
- Use a recent, well-lit photo with a plain background and a natural expression. Avoid heavy filters.
- Keep it to one page if you can. Families often forward biodata on WhatsApp, where a single page is easiest to read.
- Check every number — date of birth, height and phone number are the details people act on.
- Save it to your account so you can update it later (a new job, a new photo) without starting again.
