A Hindu marriage biodata follows the same basic layout as any biodata, but families often look for a few extra details: gotra, manglik status and the date, time and place of birth for horoscope matching. This guide walks through a Hindu biodata format section by section, with wording you can use, and shows how to create one with the free biodata maker.

Opening the biodata

Many Hindu biodata begin with a short invocation at the top, such as ॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥ or ॥ ॐ ॥, followed by the word “Biodata” or “वैवाहिक परिचय”. This is a tradition, not a requirement. If your family doesn’t use one, a simple “Marriage Biodata” heading is perfectly fine.

Section 1: Personal details

FieldExample
Full namePriya Sharma / प्रिया शर्मा
Date of birth12 April 1998
Time of birth6:45 AM
Place of birthJaipur, Rajasthan
Height5′ 4″
ComplexionFair / Wheatish
Blood groupB+

Time and place of birth are only needed if the families will compare horoscopes. If you include them, make sure they are exactly what is on the birth chart (kundli), because the match is calculated from them.

Section 2: Religious and horoscope details

This is the section that makes a biodata “Hindu” in practice. Common fields are:

  • Religion — Hindu.
  • Caste and sub-caste — for example Brahmin (Gaur), Agarwal, Maratha. Include them only if they matter to your family.
  • Gotra — the paternal lineage, for example Bharadwaj or Kashyap. Families usually avoid marriages within the same gotra, so it is useful information early on.
  • Manglik — Yes, No or Anshik (partial). Write what the horoscope says; this is something families check.
  • Rashi and Nakshatra — the moon sign and birth star, for example Rashi: Vrishabh, Nakshatra: Rohini.

The biodata form has fields for religion, caste, sub-caste, gotra and manglik. For place of birth, Rashi, Nakshatra or anything else, use Add a field and type your own label and value — it appears in the same style as the built-in fields.

Section 3: Education and occupation

Write the highest qualification first, with the subject and institution if it adds something: “M.Com, University of Rajasthan” or “MBBS, AIIMS Delhi”. For occupation, give the role and the employer or business: “Senior Accountant at a manufacturing company in Jaipur”. Annual income is optional; some families prefer to discuss it later.

Section 4: Family details

Families often read this section as carefully as the personal details. Include:

  • Father’s name and occupation (for example “Shri Ramesh Sharma — Retired Bank Manager”).
  • Mother’s name and occupation (for example “Smt. Sunita Sharma — Homemaker”).
  • Siblings, with marital status: “1 elder brother (married), 1 younger sister (studying)”.
  • Family type: joint or nuclear, and optionally the family’s native place.

Section 5: Contact and expectations

Name the contact person (often a parent), the city and a phone number. Close with two or three lines about expectations — education, location, or values that matter to you — written simply and respectfully.

Choosing a design

The free Classic Lotus design has a traditional Hindu look with a lotus motif. Premium designs with a Hindu theme include Royal Rajputana, South Indian Temple, Punjabi Vibes, Bengali Blossom and Vedic Mandala. Every design shows your own details in the preview, so you can compare them before choosing. See them all on the templates page.

Writing in Hindi

You can fill any field in Hindi. Names, the invocation and family details often read more naturally in Hindi, while qualifications are usually clearer in English. The PDF keeps Devanagari exactly as typed, including matras and conjuncts.

Step by step

  1. Open the biodata form.
  2. Fill in personal, religious, education, family and contact details. Add Rashi or Nakshatra with Add a field.
  3. Add and crop a photo.
  4. Select Save & choose design, pick a design and download the PDF.

Free designs use 1 credit per download (new accounts start with 10 credits); premium designs are ₹49 per download.
