To generate a UUID, choose how many (up to 1,000) and the version, then select Generate. Version 4 UUIDs are fully random; version 7 UUIDs start with a timestamp so they sort by creation time, which is better for database primary keys.

Frequently asked questions
Can two UUIDs collide?
In practice no: v4 has 122 random bits, making a collision astronomically unlikely.
Should I use v4 or v7?
Use v7 for database keys (better index performance); v4 when you don’t want creation time to be inferable.
