CSV to PDF: Print Data as a Clean Table, Including Hindi Text
In this article
A CSV file is great for data and terrible for sharing: open it on a phone or print it, and you get a wall of commas or a spreadsheet cut off at the page edge. Converting it to PDF gives you a clean, paginated table that looks the same everywhere. This guide shows how to turn a CSV into a printable PDF with the free CSV to PDF converter — including CSVs with Hindi names and addresses.
How to convert CSV to PDF
- Open the CSV to PDF converter and choose your CSV file (up to 5 MB). The delimiter — comma, semicolon or tab — is detected automatically.
- Choose the page orientation. Landscape suits most tables with more than five or six columns.
- Convert. The PDF is ready in a few seconds.
What you get
- A table with borders, with the first row of your CSV as a bold header.
- The header repeated on every page, so each printed page can be read on its own.
- Page numbers in the footer.
- Text wrapped inside cells rather than cut off.
Hindi and other Indian languages
Many CSV-to-PDF tools print Hindi as boxes or question marks, because the PDF is built with a font that has no Devanagari letters. This converter uses Unicode fonts that include Devanagari, so names like प्रीति शर्मा and addresses like नई दिल्ली print correctly, with matras and conjuncts in the right place.
It also reads the encodings Indian CSV files actually come in:
- UTF-8, with or without the byte-order mark Excel adds.
- UTF-16, which Excel produces when you save as “Unicode Text”.
- Windows-1252, for older English-only exports.
If your Hindi text still looks wrong, the CSV itself was probably saved in a legacy encoding. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets, check the text looks right there, and save it again as “CSV UTF-8”.
Tips for a readable PDF
- Remove columns you don’t need before converting. Fewer columns means larger, more readable text.
- Use landscape for wide tables.
- Clean up the data first. The Excel cleaner trims extra spaces and removes empty rows and duplicates, and the column extractor keeps only the columns you choose.
- Very wide spreadsheets — or files with several sheets — are easier with Excel to PDF, which offers A3 paper and per-sheet output. See fitting a wide sheet onto a PDF page.
Common uses
- Printing attendance lists, fee registers or student marks.
- Sharing an order or stock report with someone who doesn’t use spreadsheets.
- Attaching a data export to an email or a formal record.
